  • Job Summary

    The Check Services Operator is responsible for balancing deposit transactions and the support of Branch and Teller capture. Processes electronic cash letter files for remote, mobile, lockbox and correspondent banks. Provides support to other departments as needed.

    Essential Functions

    1. Performs amount entry, reject, repair, and balancing of a variety of complex proof transactions.
      • Creates proof corrections for customers and general accounts.
      • Communicates directly with branches to request rescans and reviews transactions to resolve transactions out of balance.
    2. Receives and logs previous days’ captured work from branches for storage.
    3. Responsible for daily rotation of checks that are to be shredded according to the destruction schedule.
    4. Supports branch capture locations on hardware/software issues.
    5. Opens support calls to various vendors, when necessary, and records calls into the system access log.
    6. Responsible for downloading morning inclearing files.
    7. Imports electronic cash letter files using multiple configurations.
    8. Researches and documents inclearing cash letter adjustments.
    9. Maintains daily check list of inbound files for the purpose of balancing and uses it as a control process to verify receipt of all work.
    10. Creates multiple research and collection work tickets using iHerd for appropriate department.
    11. Daily processing of remote deposits for customers using deposit direct product.
    12. Handles daily import and balancing of Lockbox deposits from third party vendors.
    13. Canadian Item Processing;
      • Frequent daily research to identify Canadian funded items.
      • Conversion of funds to US dollars and adjust deposit amount based on conversion rate.
      • Apply holds on Canadian deposits.
      • Accept Canadian hold exception requests from Executives
    14. End of day processing and balancing of captures to core files for posting to accounts;
      • Submit memo post jobs and EOD POD transaction upload jobs for posting.
      • Print and mail daily advice notices.
      • Ensure branches have all ended day before proceeding with EOD procedures.
    15. Generates outbound cash letters files for all downstream settlements.
    16. Uploads cash letter files to each appropriate settlement point.
    17. Responsible for nightly import of customer information file to update new accounts in check image system.
    18. In the event of a disaster or bad weather, may work remotely from specified branch location.
    19. Ability to work and adapt to changing organizational and operational needs and take on additional duties and responsibilities as needed.

    Job Requirements

    • High School diploma, general education degree (GED), or equivalent required.
    • 6 months of previous administrative or clerical experience required.
    • Previous experience in banking/financial services industry preferred.
    • Excellent PC skills, including word processing and spreadsheets via Microsoft Office products as well as custom applications and systems.
    • Excellent math skills.
    • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
    • Excellent analytical, time management, organizational and problem-solving skills with the ability to multi-task and produce error-free work in a deadline-driven environment.
    • Must be self-motivated with strong attention to detail and high level of accountability.
