The Senior Corporate Accountant, Fixed Assets (FA) will be responsible for the preparation, maintenance and reconciliation of fixed asset accounts on a daily basis. Will be primarily responsible for efforts to create and build a centralized FA function through implementation and ongoing utilization of a new FA sub ledger system. This person monitors the FA function from basic data entry to producing customized detailed reports for management through utilization of the FA sub ledger system and related data management queries. Will work closely with Finance and Accounting leadership and support each line of business to anticipate and promptly respond to assigned financial accounting and reporting needs, as well as ensure that all policies and procedures are followed.



Essential Functions

  1. Create and monitor a system of controls, procedures, and forms for the recording of fixed accordance with GAAP.
  2. Record fixed asset acquisitions, dispositions, sales proceeds, and deprecation in the FA sub ledger system, and prepare necessary journal entries as needed.
  3. Monitor and track the compilation of project costs into fixed asset accounts, and close out those accounts once the related projects have been completed.
  4. Prepare monthly reporting for fixed assets including asset reconciliation reports, construction in progress reports, capital expenditure reports and transfer and retirement reports. Analyze monthly reports and provide explanations for significant variances between general ledger and FA sub-ledger.
  5. Conduct periodic reviews of the fixed asset schedule to determine dispositions.
  6. Work closely with the other departments in tracking project costs in comparison to their budgeted projections. Assist in the preparation of budgets.
  7. Maintain existing internal controls over financial reporting and work with others in organization to periodically review, improve and update key processes and related control descriptions.
  8. Assist with system updates and testing as necessary.
  9. Participate in annual audit and regulatory examinations.
  10. Prepare ad hoc analyses and perform other assignments as necessary.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree OR equivalent combination of education and relevant, progressive work experience required. Degree in business administration, accounting, finance, or related field strongly preferred.
  • 5 or more years of progressively challenging professional experience in fixed assets accounting preferred.
  • CPA preferred.
  • Experience with enterprise level (ERP) Fixed Assets sub ledger systems a plus.
  • Ability to act and operate independently with minimal daily direction from manager to accomplish objectives.
  • Strong PC skills, including word processing and spreadsheets via Microsoft Office products as well as various business solution and custom applications, systems and software.
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Strong time management, organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to adapt to changing deadlines and priorities.
  • Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail with ability to analyze work product, systems and processes at a detailed level.
