Job Summary

The Electronic Payments Systems Analyst oversees the system administration for various transaction processing and retail delivery systems of the ACH, debit card, and wire transfer departments of the bank. Installs new software releases, coordinates system upgrades, installs patches, and resolves software related problems. Partners with various departments, outside vendors, and individual users to determine system requirements and provide recommendations. For managed systems, proposes new software solutions, identifies critical needs, maintains knowledge of system databases, tables, interfaces and platform configurations, and has significant involvement in all aspects of system planning and support.

Essential Functions

  1. Determines operational objectives by studying business functions, gathering information, and evaluating output requirements and formats.
  2. Studies system capabilities and ensures streamlined use of electronic payments systems.
  3. Recommends controls by identifying problems and writing improved procedures.
  4. Assists in defining project requirements and project planning.
  5. Monitors progress of projects by tracking activity, resolving problems, providing management with feedback, and recommending actions.
  6. Upholds system protocol by writing and updating procedures.
  7. Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, and establishing personal networks.
  8. Acts as first line of support for any wire system issues or system irregularities.
  9. Manages the fraud monitoring system, including rule development, testing, and deployment.
  10. Participates in scheduled ORT's (Operational Readiness Tests) for system upgrades/changes.
  11. Ensures and verifies compliance with all bank policies and procedures for all facets of wire transfer, ACH, and debit card processing.
  12. Prepares various spreadsheet and database reports according to prescribed schedules and procedures.
  13. Develops scripts to accomplish department tasks and streamline processes.
  14. Manages card issuance file processing.
  15. Maintains knowledge of ACH and wire formats in order to assist customers and provide reporting.
  16. Responsible for second level support to management systems with product managers and vendors.
  17. Documents platform, application and database configurations.
  18. Additional duties as required.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, IT or related field or equivalent related work experience required.
  • 2 years’ experience working in a systems administration or business analyst role required.
  • 2 years’ experience writing and editing existing scripts, using Perl or similar programming language, required. Experience in query writing, preferably in SQL, Crystal Reports, or other similar tools also required.
  • Previous experience in electronic payment systems or applications and the ability to learn and operate unique banking systems and applications preferred.
  • Strong understanding of electronic payment channels such as ACH, wire transfer, and/or debit cards preferred.
  • Must have proven experience accurately analyzing and troubleshooting a variety of systems applications as well as escalating issues to vendors and working directly with vendor support staff to resolve concerns.
  • Must have strong experience with a variety of technical systems, applications, and reporting tools specifically Microsoft Excel.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to work both independently and with a team.
  • Effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to clearly present suggestions and information.
  • Excellent time management, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines on daily basis.
